The protests of the suspiscious elections continue. So far, the people are protesting over discrepancies noted in most of the precints. Such items were that more people voted for Ahmadinejad than there were voters in the district. Yet, the cleric council that oversees the election board (and allies to Ahmadinejad) have declared that the election shall stand. Then, last week, a 27 year old girl named Neda Soltan (Soltani?) was murdered in the streets by a gunman in addition to scores of others.
Now, Ayatollah Khatami is calling for anyone who is protesting should be declared a "mohareb". This is pretty much calling them an enemy of God. The penalty is execution for anyone declared a mohareb.
This attempt to squash the publics determination to a fair election will not end well. If this goes through, many innocents wanting a fair government will be executed. This will lead to an all-out uprising. I am thinking this will be like the last uprising in 1979, except this time the Ayatollahs may find themselves getting the short end of the stick.
Justice will prevail. Repression can only happen for so long before the people stand up for what is right. After this occurs, the more oppressive the government becomes, the more the people will fight to be free of that tyrany.
